Dr. Susan Murphy is a Chartered Physiotherapist and member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). She originally trained in University College Dublin (UCD), completed her Masters degree at Coventry University England and obtained the highest level of academic excellence when she graduated from UCD with a PhD in 2014. Susan is also a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, UK. (MACP, UK)

Susan has vast experience in the area of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has worked both in Ireland and the United Kingdom, at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, the Blackrock Clinic, Dublin, University Hospital Waterford and St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. London. In addition, to her clinical work, Susan is also involved in the education of both undergraduate and post graduate physiotherapists, lectures regularly at the School of Physiotherapy, UCD and delivers postgraduate training courses to physiotherapists.

Susan is highly skilled in the treatment of all musculoskeletal dysfunction – neck, shoulder, back , hip knee, foot disorders but her particular area of expertise is in the management of Low Back Pain (LBP). Her recent PhD study explored the role of exercise in LBP management and the study findings have been published both nationally and internationally. In her current role at University Hospital Waterford BackCare Programme, Susan is an integral member of the Orthopaedic team and is entrusted by the Orthopaedic Consultants with the physiotherapy care of benign musculoskeletal back and neck pain.
